WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018
ATTENDANCE
All performances are required events for the students in the band program.
Please make sure you clear your child’s schedule. If you have any concerns please contact Mr. Tedeschi.
ARRIVAL: Students will meet at Eisenhower in uniform NO LATER THAN 10:25 a.m. for a brief rehearsal
UNIFORM
SNACKS AND WATER
Students should make sure they eat something before they come to school.
THEY WILL NOT HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO EAT UNTIL WE RETURN.
Students should bring a water bottle and a snack in some sort of string bag or backpack to leave on the bus for before and after the parade. We will provide students with some water at the end of the parade.
ITINERARY
10:25 a.m All Students arrive at EJH in uniform for a brief rehearsal
No Later Than 11:15 a.m Students begin getting everything they need for the parade together and loading the equipment van.
11:45 am - Depart by bus for the North side of Chicago.
1:00 pm - Arrive at assembly area and unload busses.
2:00 pm - Parade begins. We will step off sometime between 2:00 and 2:30. At the conclusion of the parade we will board the busses and return to Eisenhower.
4:15 - 4:30 pm Arrive at EJH.
Depending on traffic, we should arrive at Eisenhower close to the designated time.
Students should be picked up by the band room doors.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where is the best place to see the parade?
Can I take my child home with me from the parade?
Yes. If you are planning on taking your child with you from this event, you should follow the band to the end of the parade so you know where to find us. Parents who are taking their children with them must sign them out with Mr. Tedeschi, or one of the other chaperones assigned to that duty before students can be dismissed. Parents cannot take other children home from the parade unless it has been cleared in writing prior to this event. No child will be allowed to leave until I see you and your child together. No child will be allowed to meet their parents at an alternate location after the performance
PARADE ROUTE
Groups will assemble on Lincoln Ave. North of Irving Park Rd.
The Parade will continue North on Lincoln Ave. to Eastwood. Left on Eastwood.
We will proceed to Western Ave. and go East on Western to Lawrence.
The busses will be waiting for us on Lawrence Ave.

UNIFORM
- Students will wear their full uniform for the parade. Band Jacket, Band Pants, a white button down shirt, red bow tie, long black socks, black dress shoes, and a black belt.
- Please make sure student’s pants are the appropriate length (not too long) If you need to shorten/ hem them:
- Do not use tape, glue, or staples to hem the pants. If you need assistance let Mr. Tedeschi or the uniform moms know.
- Pants that need to be hemmed should be tacked up with a few stitches in a couple of spots so it can be removed easily.
- Press the hem if needed by covering the hem with a damp cloth and placing the iron on it for a couple seconds.
- Do not use tape, glue, or staples to hem the pants. If you need assistance let Mr. Tedeschi or the uniform moms know.
- Marching Band Instrumentalist will need:
- BLACK SHOES AND BLACK SOCKS FOR THEIR PERFORMANCES.
- The shoes should be comfortable casual dress shoe There should be no other colors visible on the shoes.
- Socks need to be at least crew length. Do not wear short socks or no show socks.

- This is the first time the EJH Band will be participating in this parade and I am extremely excited for the students to participate in this event and show off our Darien Community and EJH Band.
- Please understand that the timing of everything may vary slightly with the exception of our morning arrival time at EJH.
- For those who wish to see your children in their first parade performance of the year, the parade information below will help you enjoy the parade with your families. If you find a spot to watch the parade along Lincoln Ave., you will be able to follow the band to the end of the parade route. Where is the best place to see the parade?
- If you are driving to this event, there are probably some parking restrictions in the area so please leave yourself plenty of time.
- The best place to view the parade would be somewhere along Lincoln Ave. and then walk along with us to the end of the parade.
- There is a reviewing stand on Western Ave. for the parade dignitaries which usually includes Chicago’s Mayor.
