Lesson Overview
A weekly pullout lesson is provided to each student on a weekly rotating basis. In the lessons students are given a more individualized form of instruction that cannot be achieved in large ensemble rehearsals. Students will work on developing necessary basic skills that will improve their playing in the large ensemble. Students will have a weekly assignment that they need to prepare and perform the following week. Practice
Daily practice is an essential part to any successful musicians routine. Just as a student would practice their times tables or an athlete would practice for a sport, band students need to practice regularly in order to improve their skills. Twenty-five to Thirty minutes a day is the recommended practice time for students in the band at EJH. The 25 - 30 minutes should be focused on assignments they have received in class, assignments from their private instructors, and band music. Sometimes students will find "fun" popular music for their instruments, these fun songs are a great way to encourage a student to play their instrument but they should be practiced in addition to their assignments, not in place of.
